Posters for two nights of the brewery's Beer As Art competition series, the label for a spiced pale amber brewed by one of the owners, and the photography from both events.

Rain City Brew ran a competition series called Beer As Art in partnership with Ninkasi Brewing. Brewers brought beers, meads and ales, local artists made the artwork and labels for them, and everything got judged in front of a crowd. I was the design intern and photographer for two of the events.
November 2012 at the Seattle Creative Arts Center. The poster was intentionally crafted to be clean and let the mustache do the work.

I was the photographer on the night. Roughly 200 frames covering the brewers pouring, the judging, the artwork on the walls and the room itself.

The artwork and labels visible in these photographs are the work of the exhibiting artists and brewers, not mine. My work at this event was the poster and the photography.
The website
I was their webmaster over the same period and built out pages for each event as it came up. Here is the front page in September 2012, two months out from 'Stache Bash, with the call for artists on it:
The Archive kept the pages but not every asset, so it renders rough in places. It is still the real thing, and a broken capture beats describing work nobody can check.
April 2013, themed on cartoon and anime characters. Alex Pascual drew the club patch at the center of it, and it's a great piece of work. My job was the poster around it.
I put the patch where it would actually live, on the back of a black leather jacket, and built everything else off that. The Beer As Art lockup sits top left, the pitch runs up the right-hand side in one line, and the 21+ and $20 entry notes flank the patch instead of getting parked in a corner. Date and sponsors sit low, where a jacket hem would be.

Troy Lancaster, one of the owners, brewed a spiced pale amber for the event and asked me to do the label for it. I drew a wild-eyed face on a purple sunburst, with the name on a yellow banner across the middle.

I drew it by hand and kept it loose on purpose, to sit with the illustration and anime theme the night was built around. Something wild and expressive to match the ale it was meant to accompany.
Another 150 frames from the second night, same approach — brewers, judging, the room and the crowd.

By June 2013, after the second show, the site had been updated with the Brews of Anime event page:
